  2. This is the Eviquire Forensic Browser.

  3. Eviquire is a specialized browser

  4. designed to document and collect online material for

  5. investigative and legal review.

  6. Many types of online content that can be accessed

  7. within an authorized workflow can be collected.

  8. It can be a social media post, a simple web page,

  9. or even a content on the Tor Dark Web Network.

  10. Let's start at the beginning and see what makes Eviquire

  11. unique.

  12. We developed a customized interface

  13. that supports documented forensic acquisition across

  14. different investigative contexts.

  15. Eviquire is designed to preserve a documented

  16. acquisition record

  17. for legal and professional review, subject to the relevant

  18. jurisdiction and case requirements.

  19. by recording how specific content was

  20. collected

  21. online.

  22. At the center of the browser, we find the browser

  23. itself,

  24. which can open websites much like Edge, Chrome,

  25. or Firefox.

  26. For example, we can browse Wikipedia and search for

  27. Europe.

  28. At the top of the browser, we see key properties of

  29. the acquisition.

  30. We see the Eviquire version being used.

  31. The current acquisition ID and the IP address from

  32. which we are investigating.

  33. And we also have the video duration,

  34. because everything visible on screen is being video

  35. recorded.

  36. An important point to consider is that we put

  37. significant focus

  38. on the visual aspect of the evidence.

  39. So the evidence is video recorded while the network

  40. traffic is also collected

  41. and, where enabled, evidence records can be time-stamped on multiple blockchains

  42. during the acquisition process.

  43. Finally, we have the video time and the current

  44. system time.

  45. And at the bottom, we have the chain of custody,

  46. which is a digital adaptation of the traditional

  47. chain of custody

  48. for physical evidence adapted specifically for online

  49. content.

  50. For example, when I change pages, it is immediately

  51. reflected in the chain of custody below.

  52. Again, all of this is video recorded, helping create a

  53. clear acquisition record for review.

  54. But how do we collect this evidence?

  55. On the left side, we have several options.

  56. First, I can take a screenshot.

  57. In this case, the tool collects everything visible on

  58. the screen,

  59. including the interface, but not content outside the

  60. view.

  61. In this case, the web page is very long.

  62. So the screenshot captures only the visible portion.

  63. If I want to capture the entire page, then I will use

  64. a page shot

  65. where the browser automatically scrolls through the

  66. page

  67. while taking screenshots and collecting additional

  68. forensic data

  69. to create a forensic package that can then be time-stamped

  70. on multiple blockchains where enabled.

  71. This is another acquisition option.

  72. In addition, we can collect only a specific screen

  73. region.

  74. In this case, I select the area with the mouse, mark

  75. it as evidence, and the process is complete.

  76. Notice that the screen changes from blue to white,

  77. and once it turns blue again,

  78. it means the evidence has been fully acquired and

  79. time-stamped on multiple blockchains where enabled.

  80. Let's now go to YouTube, which is another common

  81. source of evidence.

  82. On YouTube, there are several important details to

  83. consider.

  84. First, we have the ability to expand comments and

  85. replies.

  86. This video contains, of course, the video content

  87. itself.

  88. Along with many comments, some of which are hidden.

  89. Eviquire can automatically scroll, load additional

  90. comments, and expand both comments and replies.

  91. But first, let's collect the video itself.

  92. Eviquire includes a dedicated function to collect

  93. and download the video

  94. without waiting for the full playback duration.

  95. Here, we can download the video.

  96. The video file itself is treated as evidence.

  97. At the bottom left, we have a status update showing

  98. everything that occurs during the video download.

  99. We are now downloading the video.

  100. While tracking not only the actual YouTube page,

  101. but also the final URL from which the video was

  102. downloaded.

  103. If the video is delivered in segments, then it will

  104. track the URLs of all video segments.

  105. In this case, the video is quite long, so it takes

  106. some time.

  107. After that, we will expand the comments and replies.

  108. We will use the autoscroll function with comments and

  109. replies.

  110. Now that the video has been collected, let's autoscroll

  111. the page.

  112. And we select, expand, comments and replies.

  113. This is important because it allows the tool to

  114. expand comments and replies,

  115. while scrolling, taking screenshots and collecting

  116. other forensic properties.

  117. Let's press stop and review the results.

  118. If we scroll up, we will see how the comments have

  119. already been expanded by the tool.

  120. Another useful capability is the web crawler feature.

  121. The tool extracts all links and then visits and

  122. can capture eligible pages behind those links according to the selected settings.

  123. This is especially useful when you have, for example,

  124. an online store with multiple products,

  125. such as YouTube, eBay or Aliexpress.

  126. And the tool can automatically crawl all related

  127. product pages linked from the current page,

  128. saving significant time for the investigator.

  129. For example, we are already collecting the third page.

  130. This is the fourth page, and so on until the selected URLs are

  131. processed.

  132. The tool can be configured to collect URLs only within the active domain.

  133. It does not leave the domain.

  134. Let's stop here and review the results.

  135. Another useful feature is the ability to use a split

  136. screen.

  137. This is particularly useful when, for example, we

  138. want to collect evidence

  139. and demonstrate that the same page appears in two

  140. different user agent views,

  141. or when we want to compare two different websites

  142. together at the same time in a single image

  143. so a reviewer can better understand what is being

  144. collected.

  145. Again, we can take a screenshot.

  146. That includes both pages left and right in the split

  147. screen.

  148. That completes the different options available for

  149. collecting online evidence.

  150. We can now stop the acquisition and return to the

  151. case manager.

  152. At this point, Eviquire is packaging the completed

  153. acquisition we completed,

  154. including the selected evidence, and a report can be

  155. generated,

  156. along with hashes of the files and other

  157. acquisition properties that were recorded.

  158. This is the acquisition review tool, which can also

  159. be embedded in a case.

  160. So investigators can review the evidence

  161. independently.

  162. Here we can see, for example, the chain of custody

  163. and the recorded video of the acquisition.

  164. Included is, and this is very important, a visual

  165. indicator,

  166. showing where the user clicked with the mouse.

  167. This is important because it allows a reviewer to

  168. clearly see it in the video.

  169. We also have the screenshots collected

  170. during the acquisition,

  171. including different evidence types, along with the

  172. acquisition report,

  173. containing general acquisition information and

  174. forensic data,

  175. network details, the video recording,

  176. and then a preview of each type of evidence that was

  177. collected.

  178. This is the chain of custody, where we can see all

  179. details related to the URLs we visited.

  180. We also have the download section.

  181. In this case, one video was downloaded from YouTube,

  182. along with all forensic information about the video,

  183. including the actual URL from which the video was

  184. downloaded.

  185. In addition, we have the deep collection capability

  186. that allows you to review request and response

  187. content,

  188. captured during the acquisition and, where authorized, makes it

  189. possible to download specific resources directly.

  190. This is particularly useful for JavaScript files or

  191. other resources that you may want to download.

  192. The forensic package can include additional

  193. artifacts and context.

  194. We collect a number of files for every piece of

  195. evidence.

  196. An evidence item may include source code and a

  197. copy of the page HTML,

  198. robots.txt, hash files, and other artifacts that may

  199. not always be required for an investigation,

  200. but can be available when a reviewer requests a

  201. review during court proceedings

  202. to verify the integrity and collection process of the

  203. evidence.
